Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family and service to his community. First family: he's the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. Oklahoma had two National Championships over his time as a starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a bachelor's in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. After graduating, he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers and was an all-pro 3 times, before beginning a new business career. In 1988 he became an account manager for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following associations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of the country's top 10 young men. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. It was the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
